Post Doc / Graduate Student Information
The Gallo Center has a long tradition in training visiting scientists, graduate and medical students, and postdoctoral fellows. The Center is committed to excellence in training the next generation of leading scientists in alcohol research, and in preparing them for independent research careers.

Graduate and medical students from the San Francisco or Berkeley campuses of the University of California can elect to do either a research rotation or their graduate thesis in a Gallo Center laboratory. These students participate in meetings, seminars and retreats sponsored by UCSF, and are individually mentored by the sponsoring principal investigator.

Postdoctoral fellows are selected by the principal investigator(s) in whose laboratory the candidate wishes to train. The selection process involves a review of the candidate’s curriculum vitae and evaluations provided by the candidate’s work and educational references, a personal interview with the principal investigator, and the presentation of a formal talk by the candidate which is open to all Gallo Center scientific staff and trainees.
